Reframe Systems, a robotics company using physical AI to industrialize home construction, has raised $40 million to scale its microfactory network across North America. The funding comes as the U.S. faces a shortage of 4.5 million homes, a problem the company attributes to the fragmented nature of construction, where most houses are built by hand with 25 or more subcontractors drawing on a shrinking pool of skilled trades.
Reframe combines robotics, Pixels to Parts software, and a network of microfactories to build homes near communities where they are needed, allowing adaptation to different zoning requirements, climate conditions, and architectural styles. The company plans to open FAB1, a new microfactory in Billerica, Mass., with operations starting Oct. 5, achieving full factory readiness in just 70 days from receiving the keys, using less than $5 million in capital.

CEO Vikas Enti emphasized the impact: “The housing shortage is an abstraction until you’re the person who can’t find a home in the community you want to live in.” He noted that developers are demanding faster, energy-efficient, climate-resilient homes, and Reframe’s model makes each delivery faster and cheaper as software, robotics, and network learn from each deployment. The company is now targeting one million homes by 2040, five years ahead of schedule.
