Generative Bionics unveils humanoid robot with full-body tactile sensing

Generative Bionics this week unveiled Gene.01, a humanoid robot with full-body tactile sensing, at AMD Advancing AI 2026. The robot, built in six months, combines tactile skin with physics-native AI for industrial applications.

Gene.01 features full-body distributed tactile skin that detects touch, temperature, proximity, and force, enabling safer human-robot collaboration. The AI system integrates the robot’s body, mechanics, and intelligence to better interpret and respond to the physical world.

Generative Bionics is adapting the platform for its first industrial use case through a collaboration with Fincantieri, a global leader in shipbuilding, focused on shipyard operations. The company is also open-sourcing Gene.01’s robot model to give physical AI developers a foundation for building industry-specific applications.
