General Intuition raises $320M to use video game data to train robots

Robot Design Net · · 1 min read

General Intuition US Inc. has raised $320 million in Series A funding to build AI models that can perceive, predict, and act in virtual and physical environments. The company claims a unique approach: instead of real-world or simulated data, it uses billions of gameplay clips from Medal, a platform co-founded by General Intuition’s CEO Pim de Witte. These clips capture human decision-making with embedded action labels, providing richer training data than text-based models.

The New York-based company’s Series A brings its valuation to $2.3 billion and total funding to $454 million, following $134 million raised in October. General Catalyst led the round, with participation from Jeff Bezos and Eric Schmidt. General Intuition argues that human intelligence extends beyond language, emerging from interaction and exploration, and that truly intelligent machines must learn from worlds, not just words.
