DAF Trucks to integrate Einride Driver to scale autonomous electric freight

Robot Design Net · · 1 min read

Einride AB has partnered with DAF Trucks N.V. to integrate its autonomous driving system with DAF’s premium vehicle platform, a move aimed at addressing industry challenges such as labor shortages and rising operating costs. The collaboration marks a significant step toward the large-scale commercialization of SAE Level 4 autonomous electric freight transportation.

DAF Trucks, based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, is a subsidiary of PACCAR Inc. and provides a full range of tractor units and commercial vehicles, along with repair and maintenance contracts, financial services, and parts delivery. Einride, founded in 2016, is a Stockholm-based company that integrates AI-powered freight intelligence, its proprietary Driver technology, and one of the world’s largest electric heavy-duty fleets, serving customers across North America, Europe, and the Middle East.

By combining our premium truck platform with leading autonomous technology, we are actively shaping a more efficient, safer, and sustainable freight ecosystem.

The partnership is intended to allow human drivers to focus on logistics activities where their expertise and judgment add the most value, as Level 4 automation enables vehicles to independently perform repetitive driving tasks under predefined conditions without human intervention. This collaboration reflects a broader industry trend toward autonomous and electric trucking solutions.
