Humanoid
AGCO and Agility Robotics have signed a commercial agreement to deploy Agility’s Digit humanoid in AGCO’s manufacturing operations, with a U.S. pilot expected to begin in 2027. The deployment will start at AGCO’s production site in Hesston, Kan., and is positioned as part of the agricultural machinery maker’s push toward more flexible, intelligent factories.
AGCO describes itself as a global leader in agricultural machinery and precision agriculture technologies. The Duluth, Ga.-based company’s brand portfolio includes Fendt, Massey Ferguson, PTx, and Valtra, and it markets high-performance equipment and smart farming systems, including brand-agnostic retrofit technologies and autonomous offerings. The agreement places a humanoid platform inside that manufacturing base rather than in a lab setting.
By pairing human ingenuity with robust robotic engineering and strict safety governance, we create resilient manufacturing systems that empower the workforce and deliver measurable business value.
Thomas Enghof, director of manufacturing technology at AGCO, framed the relationship around humanoid robotics and AI as essential “teammates” in building flexible, intelligent factories. In his description, they unlock automation in complex, human-centric workflows and augment human capabilities by absorbing repetitive, strenuous or hazardous tasks.
According to Agility, Digit uses AI to continuously learn and adapt to evolving workflows, supporting greater operational flexibility and improved productivity. When paired with the Agility Arc cloud-based platform for deploying and managing robot fleets, companies can integrate automation into essential operations without extensive infrastructure changes or costly facility upgrades, the company said. AGCO joins a growing list of global companies deploying Digit, including Toyota, GXO Logistics, and Schaeffler. The news arrives as Agility inches closer to its IPO via SPAC and after the company announced the latest version of Digit.
The 2027 pilot timeline sets a multi-year runway before AGCO’s Hesston site sees commercial humanoid operations, and the agreement signals continued expansion of Digit deployments into industrial manufacturing beyond the logistics and automotive-adjacent customers already named by Agility.
