Humanoid partners with Bosch, Schaeffler to scale robot production

Humanoid, a developer of bipedal humanoid robots, has announced strategic partnerships with industrial giants Bosch and Schaeffler to scale production of its robotic systems. The collaborations aim to leverage Bosch’s expertise in sensors and controls, and Schaeffler’s precision engineering and manufacturing capabilities, to accelerate the deployment of Humanoid’s robotic platforms in industrial settings.

Under the agreements, Bosch will supply key components such as motor controllers, sensors, and connectivity modules, while Schaeffler will provide high-precision mechanical components, including bearings and linear motion systems. Humanoid plans to integrate these components into its next-generation robots, which are designed for tasks like material handling, assembly, and logistics in factories and warehouses.

The partnerships come as Humanoid prepares to commercialize its robots, targeting industries facing labor shortages and seeking automation solutions. Financial details were not disclosed, but the companies indicated that initial production runs could begin within the next year. Humanoid’s robots feature a human-like form factor with advanced mobility and manipulation capabilities, allowing them to operate in environments designed for human workers.

Bosch’s involvement underscores its strategy to supply automation components to robotic startups, while Schaeffler’s participation highlights its push into robotics as a growth area. Both companies have existing robotics divisions but see value in collaborating with Humanoid to access novel designs and faster time-to-market.

Industry analysts note that scaling humanoid robot production remains challenging due to the complexity of manufacturing humanoid structures and the need for cost-effective components. Humanoid’s partnerships with established suppliers may help address these hurdles by providing reliable supply chains and engineering support.

Humanoid has not announced a specific timeline for mass production but expects to deploy pilot units at select customer sites later this year. The company raised $50 million in Series B funding earlier this year to support development and manufacturing scale-up.
