Universal Robots Launches UR30e Collaborative Robot with 30 kg Payload

Universal Robots has released the UR30e, a collaborative robot arm with a 30 kg payload capacity and a reach of 1300 mm. The robot maintains repeatability of ±0.02 mm, matching the precision of its lower-payload counterparts. This launch addresses a growing demand in heavy-duty assembly, machine tending, and material handling tasks that require higher payload without sacrificing safety or accuracy. The UR30e features an upgraded control system that supports higher inertia loads and integrates seamlessly with existing UR+ ecosystem components. Safety functions include configurable torque limits and speed monitoring to maintain collaborative operation according to ISO 10218 standards. The arm’s footprint is 350 mm base diameter, and weight is 55 kg, allowing for flexible mounting options. The UR30e is priced at $47,000 and begins shipping in Q2 2024. This model fills a gap in the cobot market between traditional 20 kg payload arms and larger industrial robots, potentially attracting automotive and aerospace suppliers. Universal Robots reports pre-orders from three major manufacturers for integration into assembly lines.
