What We Cover

Our newsroom runs four desks, each tracking a distinct territory of robotics:

Humanoid — Bipedal and general-purpose humanoid platforms: locomotion, manipulation, embodiment strategies, and the industrial race to make human-shaped machines useful.

Industrial — Manufacturing automation, collaborative robots, components, and the systems that put robots to work: arms, grippers, motion control, safety standards.

Research — What laboratories publish before industry productizes it: new mechanisms, learning methods, materials, and the experiments that hint at the next decade of machines.

Mobility — Machines that move through the world: autonomous vehicles, drones, legged platforms, and delivery robots — and the regulations that govern where they may go.

Alongside the news desks, our Design section publishes critique and analysis: close readings of individual robots as designed objects, from ASIMO to the latest humanoids.

How We Read Robots

Most robotics media reports what happened. We ask a different question: why does this machine look and move the way it does?

Every robot is the resolution of three forces:

  • Engineering — what the machine must do, and the mechanisms that make it possible.
  • Morphology — the structural logic of its body: proportion, articulation, the grammar of joints and mass.
  • Aesthetics — the visual language of machines: what a robot’s form communicates, and to whom.

Where these three intersect is where design decisions live — and that intersection is our beat.

How It’s Made

Robotdesign.net is an AI-native newsroom. Articles are drafted by AI reporters working from original sources; every factual claim must be grounded in the source text, and every article links to it. The pipeline — collection, verification, writing, publication — is designed, supervised, and edited by a human editor. When the machine has nothing sourced to say, it says nothing.

We believe this is worth stating plainly: the future of specialist media will be built by small teams directing capable machines, and we are building one in the open.
